Mike Contoni – Her I go Again
Mike is now based out in Thailand, retired, traveling and writing more songs. He is a driven, passionate and charismatic artist with a unique approach to his sound, inspired by country and southern rock music. I’ve been playing guitar and writing songs since I was 14…
After 35 years working for the U.S. Navy I retired in Dec 2015 and have been solely working on my music since. My stepfather and Mother got me connected with a Nashville producer and I started cutting my songs with studio professionals. After my first single I got the bug and have not looked back. Black Roses -U Turn
We are a duo (Bjorn & Jane) from Norway who has been in the music industry as songwriters/producers for a while – but only recently released two singles as a band. Bjorn is the producer and the composer – and he basically lives in the studio (no joke). He grew up on a farm in rural Norway and taught himself to play the guitar and how to produce at an early age. Jane was pretty much forced into songwriting when she returned after 2 years in Florida in 2001 (as they now figured she knew english very well). Jane had been singing since she was a child – but coming from a remote place in Norway there was no one to learn from and no choir to join – so she made her own singing group called “Happy” (yes, seriously) and selected neighbors to join.
Jane started studying music but felt constrained with all the rules and the lack of flexibility so she moved over to regular college and later graduated from university in psychology. This – mixed with being highly sensitive and a world traveller (heading to remote places in this world on every vacation) has shaped Jane’s perspective on the world and is often reflected in her lyrics. Black Roses are not trying to be different – they simply just are. Behind The Music Interview: http://avaliveradio.com/behind-the-music-black-roses-on-want-this/

Moon on the Water is a deep house mix with pop harmonies and a hook that will make sure you remember to look up at the night skies this summer. Side FX and Kim Cameron are a high-energy, 2-time Top 20 Billboard chart-topping dance band who’s music has been on Billboard Dance Club, Hot AC, AC; College Music Journal; AAA, DJ Times, FMQB music charts. Jenny Bracey- Just Accept it
From South West UK is one of the most active solo artists hidden under the radar! “A voice that rocks you! And guitar skills to boot!” Jenny has worked hard on developing her sound. “Just Accept it” was recorded in Andover, UK, by Louis Sellers of Anton Road studios.
The PondHawks – Bittergame
An unsigned indie band from Chicago who formed in 2007 and have since captured a worldwide audience with catchy melodies and a pioneering approach to music. Some may call it retro-rock with a now sound, but the band’s unique signature style falls into its own category. Musically driven by poetic lyricism that is clever and prolific, the band sends a message to its listeners. The PondHawks have an artistry for storytelling, which evolves through meticulously crafted passages that create atmosphere and mood. Instruments are carefully selected to drive the melody and the emotional power of the song.
Van Wild – Bluebird
Dr Yasmine Van Wilt is an award-winning published writer, singer-songwriter, composer, actress, producer and performance artist. Her work can be found in print and on radios, stages and screens internationally. Van Wild is her current project. She has reached Top 40 chats in the U.S. and amassed several million plays online; she will will soon release “If You Want”, a Van Wild project collaboration with multi-platinum recording artists The Bellamy Brothers. Yasmine is a Mellon Post-Doctoral, a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and was a Thomas Holloway Scholar, an Overseas Research Scholar, and a Newcastle University International Scholar. “Bluebird” is inspired by a combination of personal experience and current events. Whilst this story parallels my lived experience of domestic abuse and stalking, the character’s flight across the ocean and the context of the gallows is inspired by the flight of the Hugenots from France during the early period of colonization. My objective here is to, without bashing anyone over the head, challenge the notions of “Americanness” and “Canadianness”. With the exception of First Nations peoples and those who were victims of trafficking and persecution during during slave trade, everyone who lives in the United States or Canada was either a refugee, asylum seeker or economic migrant. This story, about Bluebird, describes a young woman’s flight from persecution; she witnesses the execution of her family, and she escapes to Quebec. This is an origin story common to many; this young woman is also fleeing from an obsessive jailer. Like “Momma”, this song is magical real; it is never clarified whether she succeeds in escaping, whether she is killed by her jailer…she fights hard, that much is for sure. And she certainly does not play a victim in this narrative; she is an intelligent, quick witted young woman with a hard-wired instinct for survival. Life is hard; we need stories that challenge ordinary representations of women, that comment on the current state of our world.
County-Wide – Home Grown
The words to Homegrown came to me easily as I sat and reminisced on my younger days. I grew up in a town where things were smaller and times were a lot slower. As any teenager you are always in such a hurry to grow up and get out of “here” you forget to slow down and take each day in as it comes. You are always on a quest to see and experience all these things that you have blown up in your mind and perceive to be better. As you grow and travel down life’s twists and turns on that quest to become bigger and better you quickly remember those smaller and simpler times. It “Makes you want to turn yourself around and go right back home again”
