GETTING TO KNOW DARRIN EVIL
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
Song name: You Too
Music Genre/ category : Hard Rock
The song “you Too” is at its core a reminder that we are all responsible for what we do with our lives. This current life specifically. I used to be one of those people that hoped someone else would make my happy or successful but since I started to say yes to me, and stopped always trying to please others, my life is awesome. Not to be selfish, just to stop playing the blame game. Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?
Shadow Side is the first album…
I have released on my own. No other musicians, writers or producers were involved. It’s very raw and personal. There are some songs that may seem out of place compared with the other tracks but that is exactly where I was at when creating it. All over the map. I wanted to see what would happen if left to my own devices. And even though the album is not polished to perfection, I accomplished a major goal that I’ve had for as long as I can remember.
I live in Vancouver BC Canada…
There is a lot of music happening in Vancouver now and has been for a while. There are so many artists in all genres that It can be a challenge for a lot of the non-famous bands to get quality gigs, but a few break through if they persist long enough
from my personal experience, is not much of a business. It seems to have more to do with socializing than producing and then getting paid for art. I have had to pay to play, play for beer, play in empty bars and sleep on the floor of a van in the frozen rocky mountains just to be heard by a few new people. Fortunately the digital and social media revolution is making it easier for artists to create music and have it heard all over the globe.
I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Frank Zappa. His musical genius was off the charts. Pun intended. Whether he was playing a bicycle on stage or conducting an orchestra he took his music serious. And at the same time some of his songs are hilarious or crass or even offensive. Eclectic and unpredictable he was always sharing his thoughts while striving to create something new and innovative.
