{Behind The Music} London Grammar

London Grammar stage showThe English trio, London Grammar combines electric pop with a dramatic vocal by lead singer Hannah Reid. Reid and guitarist Dan Rothman met in 2009 at the dorms of Nottingham University where they began writing music together and instrumentalist Dot Major completed the trio year later. Over the years they worked hard refining their sound with atmospheric electronics and infusions of light percussion. They often played for rooms of less than 10 people but their popularity quickly grew with their 2012 release of “Hey Now”. The album was uploaded to the internet instantly finding a cult following in not just the U.K but also in Australia where their they released the 2013 EP “Metal & Dust”. The album quickly reached the top of the charts and they signed to Ministry of Sound releasing the single “Wasting My Young Years” as the first release on the label. As their popularity continued to grow, they found themselves playing to sold out shows at the Islington Assembly Hall and even an appearance at the Great Escape Festival in Brighton.

Presently they are still riding high on their album “If You Wait” released in 2013.
