“Feel alive inside, create something new today. I love the music lifestyle because I have the freedom to uniquely express myself which is not something you have the freedom to do in a normal day job. I am an out of the box thinker, and this lifestyle allows me to do that.”- Naomi Psalm : Idaho @naomipsalm

GETTING TO KNOW NAOMI PSALM
by Jacqueline Jax
play a HUGE part in my life. It’s something I spend most of my time thinking about; strategizing on how I can get my music out there, lyrics to write, and playing it is very therapeutic for me. I love this lifestyle because I have the freedom to uniquely express myself which is not something you have the freedom to do in a normal day job. I am an out of the box thinker, and this lifestyle allows me to do that.
I chose the song “Losin’ It” because it’s so fun and light hearted. It’s based on a true story….lol! I lost more than a few things one day that prompted me to make the best out of it and use the experience for a song. It’s one that everyone can relate to.
The music scene seems to be thriving here. People call it a mini-Seattle because of that. The musicians are pretty good at supporting one another and going to each others shows. Speaking of that, going to hear live music is one of my favorite things to do. As far as non-music, I have been trying to send my time outside when the weather is actually warm enough. I like to jog, and I have hiked Table Rock a few times this year, which is the popular hiking spot.
– Don’t get stuck trying to re-invent the wheel. Most hit songs are incredibly simple…which makes them something the audience can easily grab on to.
– Check your song tempos, and make sure you aren’t falling into a rut. We are naturally inclined to play the speed of our hearts beat, so challenge yourself to make your set interesting and… Change it up!
– Record the melodies you come up with, even if it’s just one line. It won’t always stick in your head when you need to access it again.
is always something more than I’ve already achieved. I’m never satisfied. I suppose that could be a good thing or a bad thing. Seriously though, I would like to open a show for Brandi Carlile and big names like that!
May 8th, my band plays at Cylos Lounge in Eagle, ID 8-12 Free show/21+
I am in the studio working on a new record. We have 2 songs almost done, and I am thrilled with them! They are more in the vibe of Imogen Heap and Ellie Goulding with an electonic, industrial feel. I am also the voice of an online promo video for a company, and I am shooting for doing more commercial work like that.
Refreshingly honest indie/pop singer Naomi Psalm began her career the age of 19 traveling to over 30 countries as a bass player and writer for her band. She plays guitar and ukulele and draws you in with her fun, quirky, thought provoking and sometimes somber lyrics. Her sound is akin to Sarah McLachlin, Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow to name a few.
