GETTING TO KNOW SHADOW CRU
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
Person Interviewing: Essam Abbas
Song name: On the Verge
Music Genre: Deep House . minimal
The song is about being on the verge of breakdown , this could mean a few things positive and or negative . I kind of leave it up to the listener to decide .
I am constantly writing new material and collaborating with other artists in different genres . I am actually putting together a few ep’s form different genres . I have in the past been on several compilation albums over seas but felt I had to little control over my own music and how it was being used , so you can imagine how exciting it is to be more in control of the end product . I will also be setting up a band camp account very soon where people can purchase my music .
I live in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada …
the home of Datsik and several other big names in the dubstep community . For the size of the is town there is loads of music to choose from , we also are privy to many festivals , Like Shambhala which I played ( dj ) and did visuals for at least 5 years . We also host Centre of Gravity which brought in Srillex and Diplo on separate years . I also work as a high steel rigger so I get to work with lots of big acts that come through town .
This kind of business can…
scare you out of making music all together . I can honestly say I have experience both sides of that coin . Pro’s are lots of people will let you know they appreciate what your doing and thank you for what your doing , Con’s are there are far to many cut throat people out there that don’t want you to succeed because possibly they think they are better , or jealous perhaps . All I know is if your not prepared to do some hard work you should be doing something else .
I would love to have 5 minutes alone with….
Possibly Brian Eno , I’m not really the type of person that has ever idolized anybody but Brian Eno is a ground breaking artist. He is a producer and I feel helped to shape modern music as we know it to be now . There is so much I could learn from someone like this and the key word here for me is learn .
