Interview by Jacqueline Jax / Radio host & music journalist

Music began for me when…
I was about 5 years old when I started singing songs in a Gospel church. As far as instruments go, I started  playing trombone for my 4th grade Orchestra, bongos & drums in church. My folks bought me a guitar at age 13 but no lessons; the rest is history!

My Local music scene…
Aliso Viejo, CA is only 10 minutes from the beach and beautiful coastal views. The local music scene has live music at some bars and restaurants. Spaghettini in Seal Beach and The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano to name a few.

Fun Things to do…
One of my favorite things to do is cruise the California Coastline and enjoy the inspiring beauty of God’s creation. I also enjoy composing new music from a thought I hear in my head.

Social media….
like Facebook or Twitter are great vehicles to drive down memory lane. You can find the three F’s: (1)Family, (2) Friends or (3) Foe. Don’t know who looks for the 3rd F… Lol.  One can send well wishes and share sad or happy life events. Beyond those uses, it gives an artist a way to wake people up about what they are doing.

The BIG Breaks…
I think it is hard for indie artists to break in because most of us do n0t have capital to force feed our music to the masses. It is hard to penetrate a market flooded with so much of the same sound and look. Anyone can form a love for that music. Not bitter at all, I’m just saying.

My Musical influences are…
Probably George Benson, BB. King, Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz and Ernie Isley of The Isley Brothers. These guys are my favorites because their musical influences represent all the elements of what I sound like today. No special events yet. Some to come for sure.

I would like to leave behind…
a legacy of inspirational music that raises one’s spirit, comforts one’s soul and inspires one’s body.

Religion…
I’m what I call a practicing Christian; medical doctors practice medicine. I practice my faith. They study for years and unless they apply what they learn, it does the patient no good. I do believe in the principle of planting and harvesting i.e., sowing and reaping. In other words apple seeds produce apple trees and so on…

Again as a practicing Christian, I lean on the biblical principles of faith I have learned all my life. My younger sister died from cancer three plus years ago and my dad of dementia a year ago in February.  The conflict is that you want them here, but heaven is absolutely better!!! Knowing that restores my Joy.

5 years…
My songs and music playing around the world.

The big picture…
I keep a macro view of things. I have learned to do unto others as I would have others do unto me. Do what you promise to do (except when you don’t..LOL).  Finally, “The answer is already NO if you don’t ask!”..WC Fletch

Success…
at the end of the day is being able to control your circumstances instead of them controlling you.

Well done my good and faithful servant… Can I get a B-Flat? LOL!!!!

BIO
As the story is told, West Coast Fletch started singing in church at the age of 5 yrs old. By the time he was 10, he learned the trombone and some drums. At 13, his parents bought him a guitar: he was divinely self taught. Afterwhich, he picked up bass guitar to help him write songs in a more complete way.

Growing up in a strict Christian home he was not allowed to listen to many secular artists. Fortunately, he wasn’t always at home. Fletch listened to Blues, R&B, Funk and Jazz, as much as he could get. Today his music oozes with those lush elements with rich Gospel undertones. Able to turn a phrase on a dime, history is being made right now: His-Story !!!
West Coast Fletch simply MAKES MUSIC… Thanks for listening !!!
