Behind the Music Chad Frey on The Single

Writing is alot different for working on an album. Not all tracks were written recently, in fact most often the tracks you use are written years ago and resurface when they fit into a project.  I spend time in the Kenmore ohio studio, at just a dream entertainment to record my vocals and master the tracks.

Band Name: Chad Frey

Song name: The Single

Music Genre:: Metal / Punk

This song describes…
the challenges of todays indie musician. Our music needs to be heard but it’s really hard to get the attention of music fans and industry today. There’s nothing like this anywhere else out there, that’s a good thing but often makes my music misunderstood.

How do you think this release represents your current direction..
Before recording Open.Play.Rebel I just knew it in my gut that this might be the best album I ever done. I never said that on my previous releases, not even my debut album. The beginning of something big back in 2004. Push play, no were not kidding. It’s time to rebel!

Where do you create your music?
Writing is alot different for working on an album. Not all tracks were written recently, in fact most often the tracks you use are written years ago and resurface when they fit into a project.  I spend time in the Kenmore ohio studio, at just a dream entertainment to record my vocals and master the tracks. The music is by someone else who wants me to use there creation and I then become the owner of those recordings. I’m fairly open to working with other.

How do you stay focused and balance creating with life..
Best time for me to record is on weekends. Saturdays mostly so although that doesn’t give me a ton of time to dedicate to music, I do what I can to get something accomplished. I’m just trying to work with purpose.

What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking?
Not much on advice accept the best one I heard from is Chris Ballew said “Just keep going.”. That makes sense.

I live in…
Akron ohio. It’s somewhat deserted but there’s some great bands that are worth seeing here. It could be a lot better that’s for sure.
