I like to think of my music as Country music lyrics thru a soulful vocal and rhythmic prism. This song is an autobiography of my journey from a dream to a reality of becoming a singer/songwriter and recording artist. This song marked my 25 years in the industry and is celebrated on the “Shine On Me” 25th Anniversary CD.
Both the environment that I create in and my colloborators have changed over the years. I’ve recorded just about anywhere from bathrooms, basements, to premier studios both in Nashville and LA. The process of making the music also caries often in my journey. I do live recording in Nashville using the Nashville pickers (players). In LA the process is more synthesized with just my producer and myself in the mountains of Lake Arrowhead to the streets of Burbank CA.
This songs was co-written with my ensemble professor at the California College of Music. His name is Uros Raskovski. He created a guitar riff, I developed the song melody and lyrics. Together we demoed the song and took it to Nashville where the studio musicians and my producer Jack Gale put the final touches on the song. Describe your process, the studio, any collaborations, equipment that you love
Because I was more mature than most when I entered into the music business I felt that I was grounded. My children were college bound and I changed from a corporate career to a life-long dream in a career driven by passion for music.
During my time at California College of Music, my teachers solidified my talent. Their encouragement gave me the confidence I needed to create my own career. I learned music business and music theory as well.
I live in…
Santa Maria CA (along the Central Coast of California). The music scene here is open for live performances many through wineries and tasting rooms as well as festivals and clubs.
