I think my music is just an honest view of life and yes even death, good times, love and seeking of truth. With so much fighting and trouble in the world, I think this is a good message for today. We have all been offended and hurt by people, strangers, even family and friends. In my opinion, no matter who hurts you it’s always a good thing to forgive.

Interview by Jacqueline Jax
host of A.V.A Live Radio
Band Name: David Vaters
Song name: Forgive
Music Genre:: Americana, Country and Christian
The song is really about how we all have been offended and hurt by people, strangers, even family and friends. In my opinion, no matter who hurts you it’s always a good thing to forgive.
Forgiveness is important because.
1. because you really don’t know all that is going on with people and what they are going thru. Not one of us is perfect.
2. We may think that we are hurting them in some way by holding a grudge or punishing someone but in reality we are only causing stress on our selves by not letting go of the anger. It’s all in the best selling book in the world, the bible. With so much fighting and trouble in the world, I think this is a good message for today. It’s good to forgive and relieve yourself of it and let God work it all out….
Just one mans life experiences and thoughts!
I think my music is just an honest view of life and yes even death, good times, love and seeking of truth. I don’t try to get heavy, just a healthy look at things. It’s all about life experiences and losing someone close to you. The song expresses the story of messing up with someone you love and asking for forgiveness because you realize what is most important in life.
Another theme that I addressed in the song was to have a good relationship with your maker.
How do you think this release represents your current direction..
Volume 1 was more of a country and Americana feel. Volume 2 is similar but with a little more rock and pop added in. My music is always evolving and I like it that way, keeps things interesting!
I have done some co-writing with Ward Pike and kai Siltimaki over the years but mostly I write alone. The last two albums that we released this year in 2017 where primarily written quickly in that I mean most of the songs were written in less than an hour and some times less than 20 mins. I go to one of my Mcphersons acoustics or my nord stage 2 keyboard and start playing something.
How do you stay focused and balance creating with life.
My wife has a big part in keeping me on track. She is amazing!!!!
I keep my eyes on my self and just try to love everyone around me. Obviously I have a spiritual side of me that keeps me balanced and level……
What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking?
I think Skip Prokop who was a multi platinum recording artist, really inspired me to just be unique and to keep it real and authentic.
I guess you can’t get any better advise than that.
I live in…
the wilderness!!! So not much of a music scene here but let’s just say Franklin is my favorite place to hide out.
