Play and write what moves you!
You can’t have one without the other. Life gives you stories to write and songs are then born. Creativity without life experience has no foundation and depth so when the two are balanced properly songs are created. That’s the magic about music and melody, you see if we allow the music to play us it will bring you to places you have never gone too. Love for music brings focus as you create to aspire to be the best you can be and through your music you can move and inspire people.
It represents the story telling side of my song writing and my life. The direction of my music is about truth and the journey through my life. I feel and write what moves and motivates me, I realize the things that really dig deep are topics and experiences that I’ve gone through personally.
I usually write on a piano or guitar, the process is quite magical. I get a feeling or an inspiration from something it comes from a magical place I’m guessing. A melody a guitar riff comes out of playing and jamming, it feels right and then I begin to write a story and characters are created. Arrangements and structures are worked on after the song has a good foundation.
In live in Toronto Canada and the music scene here is not bad but can be better. I guess it depends on the club and weather conditions, bars and clubs are usually busier in the summer as people come out more to support bands and songwriters.
