I would like listeners to be able to relate to my music on a lyrical or emotional level. I try to communicate the emotional depth of each of my songs and I try to be as honest as possible because I think people can connect with that.- @OdaniJanet

GETTING TO KNOW JANET ODANI
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
Significant Mistake is a love song about a breakup
and the couple thought at the time that was the best thing to do. However, their hearts couldn’t move on from that place of love and neither one was happy without the other. After a while, their paths cross again and they finally realized they were meant to be together and what they called a ‘mistake’ as a reason for breakup/ separation couldn’t keep them apart.

I live in Sydney, Australia and it’s a city
with diverse cultures and the music atmosphere is also quite varied. There are lots of open mic nights and its really good to hear different indie artists sharing their music and be a part of it.
There are lots of nice places to go to in Sydney particularly
the Opera House which is one of my favorite places and I guess is a favorite with many people and tourists. The Sydney Vivid lights festival usually held from May to June is a spectacular time when the Opera house and the area around (Circular Quay) is lit with amazing lights and it’s a great sight to see. New Year’s Eve is another time of the year when Opera House and Circular Quay is filled with crowds for the Fireworks display and every year they put up a really good show.
I also love nature and love taking nature walks
and hikes along the beach or national parks. I enjoy beautiful scenery and enjoy taking nature/ landscape photographs.
The music business is quite dynamic.
The advancement of technology allows anyone to basically record and produce a pretty good sounding track from a home studio and pitch it to a producer or perform it if they choose to. Social media can be a great help for musicians and helps a lot with networking, collaborating and marketing. I guess one of the cons in music I’ve noticed is that not many people purchase physical CDs anymore because nowadays one can easily listen to music online or purchase and download it.
I would love to spend 5 minutes with Tracy Chapman.
I think she is an amazing artist and her songs are so unique. I think she does a good job relaying emotion with lyrics and there’s a sense of honesty with her songs not to mention they sound good too.
