How do you think this release represents your current direction..
I feel like today, 2018, in our current zeitgeist, music is a tough field; especially for rap/ hip-hop… Omnipotent Stature Vol. 1 the mixtape was my idea. I would love to do a 2pac album. With that said, I realized rap needed me when I heard the hippie sabotage Sunny Album. I was like people go out and listen to this dope new alternative kinda hip hop, but nobodies on the beat spitting..
I felt like it needed me; at the same time EDM and DubStep was really taking off, and I can rap on anything; So, I wanted to try to take it in that direction. With that said, I love 2pac, his former manager and best friend mouse is managing one of the artists who collaborates with OME.. So, my ties to pac are synchronistic in the most foundational definition. 2pac grew up for a major part of his life in the Greenmount, neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. Which is where my homies are from; and I’m probably the only white person anybody will even see in that part of town.
I started OME because I wanted to find the most talented & open minded people, who otherwise wouldn’t have the boost and when I approached my homie 220 stackz about making music, he was down for it; he introduced me to Tidy aka Ty Marley, who is one of my personal favorite artists. They have a track called “Put ya Hands up” on the album. I’ve known 220 stackz since I was like 13, we all worked at Panera…
Where do you create your music?
I have my own studio, and my own Label Open Minded Entertainment & Productions LLC. However, I love rapping in my car… Something about the fluidity of motion and the constantly changing environment while I drive gives my adhd different content of thought. I recorded 16 songs on a drive to Detroit over 1hour and 36 minutes… then I was just mesmerized for the rest of the ride that I did what I did….. I love Protools, I love my rode mic and my Mbox Pro. I love working with my homies Bangland the team, who collaborate with me as OME. We ride together, it’s Baltimore, this isn’t exactly a soft town..
How do you stay focused and balance creating with life..
before probation, I smoked a lot of weed, and took adderall. I actually made a psychopharmacological discovery that cannabis is a neurotensin against. But that’s a deeper topic. On a non-physiological note, I just try to stay happy and enjoy what I’m doing; if I don’t enjoy myself, then it’s not worth doing. I mean that to the point where I’ve had days without food, because I love making music, it’s not a hobby, its a life style. I can’t work a 9-5 for some douche on a power trip manager. I’m Me. I love what I love, and I won’t settle for less than what I know I’m worthy of.
What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking?
Don’t Trust Anybody…
I live in…
the moment; its 2018… if I focus on the past its not proactive, and if I think to far ahead it gives me anxiety. The music scene here is.. * ever evolving. And thats why I started doing this. I saw a different direction to take hip hop/rap that nobody else had really ventured into.
