Interview by Jacqueline Jax
host of A.V.A Live Radio
Artist: Nate Wood
Song name: Two Deep
This song is about having difficult conversations with loved ones. Sometimes resulting in heartbreak, sometimes resulting in spiritual uplift. My music is always created from the heart. It represents how much of myself I put in my brand. I wish to build my brand locally, nationally, and globally.
For me, the initial creative process starts with reaching out to producers and beat makers and having conversations about song concepts and life themes. A transaction then typically occurs where I purchase exclusive rights to a custom track. I then write the song on the track, and do a ‘rough’ recording in my closet with an AKG P220 mic and a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 interface.
After I’m comfortable with the idea, it goes to the producing process. The producing process takes place at IPR In Minneapolis. https://www.ipr.edu. If I am collaborating, they have to be in the recording session with me.
I stay focused on music by working really hard and enjoying that process! You can always be growing and progressing, but I feel like part of what helps me balance is having the ability to be able to detach and let go from everything at any given time.
The person that forever changed my way of thinking was when I went to an event in LA put on by Tiamo de Vettori. His whole presentation changed my life and way of thinking about music.
I live in…
Milwaukee, WI. Music scene is very saturated but filled with talent.
