(Behind The Music) Stus Rollins on Magnificent Skin

The song is about the beauty in a person or what surrounds a person. It’s about the thing you are in, your Magnificent Skin. The song was lying round for quite a while as an instrumental. My partner came up with the phrase Magnificent Skin. I liked what it meant so I finally married the two elements together and recorded it at Starmaker Studios Lisbon @Stusrollins

My music is mainly instrumental.
I find the human voice has its limitations, especially along -side the guitar, the electric guitar. My music creates soundscapes, pictures and stories for the listener to travel along. It commands the listener to concentrate on it rather than having it on in the background.

I live in the Sintra mountains just outside Lisbon.
It is quiet up here. But there is a vibrant scene down in Lisbon, which is quite beautiful. Lots of bars and great restaurants. With a lively music scene.

I am pretty despondent about the music scene right now.
Things have changed so much in the past five to ten years. It makes it really hard to make a living nowadays. The record business is almost dead and there is virtually no need to produce a CD any longer. Although the internet is a great tool, it has been the death of music. An album now costs half the price it did ten years ago. Music fans are so used to having stuff for nothing that they don’t consider buying it. They just go to Spotify or You Tube. I do not know what the future holds for music but it isn’t a bright one at the moment.

I would love to have five minutes alone with Donald Trump
to ask him what he would do with the music business. The world’s second most influential man according to Forbes. He’s a man that can get things done, be it good or bad.
