I wanted this song to give listeners a fresh perspective on my music as well as be a fun summer song that could be perfect for any summer party playlist.
This release represents my current direction because at one point was apart of how I was feeling and where I was in life. I used to think way too intricately about putting my music out there for people to hear and be so nervous about what listeners would think.
I started a local movement called “Defeat The Label” which aims to suppress the social labels we place on all people. Race, gender, religion, financial status, etc. I think this release is special because I am very open about my issues dealing with obstacles and struggles that I face daily.
As a musician and artist, you have to be unique especially in the hip hop genre. Do not try and do what anyone else does. Do not rely on anybody else. Rely on yourself, because you will only be let down. So I have trained myself, done my research on the music industry to be able to do most things myself.
As a J-POP singer songwriter, I usually write lyrics first, and write melodies along with them because the messages are the most important for me, like about love or life to encourage listeners, and this procedure can make melodies more free from common theories of writing habits.
I am a very passionate and emotional singer, and I believe that it flows out of the speakers and into my listeners. I love when someone can connect to my music and feel the emotions I have invoked into the song.
My music is a collection of stories that have changed my life in some way. It speaks to many people in some form or fashion because it deals with love, compassion, heartbreak, friendships, thankfulness and diversity.
The song was written and recorded, like previous albums, in Nashville where the family has worked for many years. ‘Make A Change’ asks the listener questions about how we judge and treat people when we are meeting for the first time.
